Wilma Mae Clingenpeel, age 92 of Muncie and formerly of Windfall, died Monday, February 20, 2012 at Morrison Woods Health Campus in Muncie after an extended illness. She was born January 7, 1920 in Elwood, the daughter of Landy R. and Mary (Solomon) Walker. She was a 1937 graduate of Elwood High School. Wilma married Ernest B. Clingenpeel on March 14, 1943 and was a loving homemaker all of her life. She was a devoted and lifelong member of the Curtisville Christian Church where she was active in the Ladies Aide group. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #66 in Tipton and Delta Theta Tau Sorority in Elwood. She was also a charter member of the "Women of Elwood". Wilma enjoyed playing euchre and reading her bible.
Survivors include 2 nieces, Janet (Walker) Noel of Muncie and Nancy (Walker) Burch of Connersville; nephew, John Walker of Windfall; sister-in-law, Karleen Walker of Windfall; 3 great-nieces; 1 great-nephew; 1 great great-niece; 2 great great-nephews; and numerous other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest B. Clingenpeel who died August 22, 1987; 2 brothers, Robert Walker and Richard Walker; and nephews-in-law, Stephen Noel and Joseph Burch.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Curtisville Christian Church, 737 North 600 East, Elwood with the Rev. Jim Snapp officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM prior to the funeral service on Friday at the Curtisville Christian Church.
