Obituary

William R. "Bill" Williams, age 85 of Noblesville and formerly of Elwood, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born August 28, 1927 in Bloomington, IL the son of William R. and Georgia Ella (Rogers) Williams. He was a 1947 graduate of Tipton High School and served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force from 1947 to 1967 and retired from the military as a Tech Sergeant. He married Mildred "JoAnn" Boruff on October 12, 1968. Bill was a former supervisor and security guard for Ex-Cello Corporation and later Airfoil Textron in Elwood for 20 years, and retired in 1987. He was a member of the American Legion, was an airplane enthusiast, and formerly enjoyed fishing. He especially enjoyed woodworking, and was well known for making toys for orphans and underprivileged children. He also worked with Jim King as a helper and toymaker for Santa.

Bill's family includes his wife of 44 years, Mildred "JoAnn" (Boruff) Williams of Noblesville; 3 children, Brenda (husband David) Schuck of Anderson, Nancy Conklin of Kokomo, and Judy Hoppes of Pulaski, TN; brother, George (wife Jean) Williams of Elwood; 6 grandchildren, Benjamin Schuck, Alice Bliss, Lorien (husband David) Moore, Wayne (wife Judith) Ryan, Angela Givens, and Andrew Lamberth; 5 great-grandchildren, Ryan Moore, Jacqueline Moore, Caitlyn Jones, Kory Givens, and Noga Bliss; 1 great great-grandchild, Jazon Jones; special in-laws, James & Judy Boruff, Ronald & Darlene Boruff, Mary & Jack Greenwald, Phyllis Morris, and Stanley Wayne; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Russell Williams, Richard Williams, and Robert Williams; a daughter, Bonnie Ryan; and 2 grandchildren, Johnathan William Ryan and William Lee Ryan.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 8, 2013, at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Dr. Linda Philabaun of the First Presbyterian Church in Elwood officiating. Burial will take place in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors conducted by the U.S. Air Force and the Elwood V.F.W. Post 5782 Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 2 PM on Friday prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church through the funeral home.
