Wendell L.
Wilson
Feb 18, 1951 — May 26, 2026
Wendell L. Wilson , age 75 of Elwood, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Ascension St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood. He was born February 18, 1951 in Noblesville, the son of Wendell L. and Evelyn M. (Woods) Wilson. Wendell valued education and attended Hamilton Heights schools, completing high school at Wendell L. Willkie High School and graduating in 1969. He quietly dedicated himself to his work at Delco Remy in Anderson, where he spent 37 years until his retirement in 2006.
On November 14, 1987, Wendell married Mary Ann Parker. Together, they shared over 36 years of steadfast companionship and support. Wendell was a man of few words, he was always thinking of the next best joke, as his favorite show was "The 3 Stooges". He preferred the comfort of home and the satisfaction of a job well done, always putting his loved ones first.
Though he enjoyed simple pleasures—such as the occasional trip to Florida for scuba diving or boating at Dale Hollow—Wendell was happiest in the presence of those he cared for. He will be remembered as a steady presence, a devoted husband, brother, and friend, whose greatest joy was found in caring for his family and fulfilling his responsibilities with dedication.
Wendell is survived by his sister, Sylvia Wilson of Elwood; sister-in-law, Margaret Frazier of Elwood; brother-in-law, Jack Parker; close friend, Bob Bambrough; and several close friends. Wendell is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Ann Wilson in 2024; and 2 brothers, Francis "Frank" Wilson, and Thomas Wilson.
A funeral service celebrating Wendell's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Scott Blaylock of Life Church officiating. Burial will follow in Elwood City Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 PM prior to the service on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at the funeral home.
