Obituary

Wanda B. Singer , age 89 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness, but a long, well-lived life.  She was born January 6, 1929 in Summitville, the daughter of Howard F. and Elsie M. (Anderson) Welches, Sr.  Wanda was a Homemaker most of her life, and also formerly worked at Delco Remy in Anderson and Continental Can in Elwood.  Wanda was dedicated to the Lord, and was a lifelong, devoted member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Elwood where she formerly served on the church board.  She was a member of the class of 1947 at Wendell L. Willkie High School, and proudly returned to finish her credit requirements and graduated in 1972.  Wanda married the loved of her life, Richard D. Singer on January 30, 1947, and they shared over 60 years of marriage together prior to his passing in 2007.  She was interested in accounting and business, and was known for her precision with numbers and details.  Wanda was absolutely devoted to her family, and loved nothing more than spending time with all of them right up until the end of her life.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Wanda's family legacy includes her son, Keith E. (wife Debbie) Singer of Anderson; 4 grandchildren, Leah Jones, Angela (husband Nathan) Erwin, April (husband C.J.) Prickett, and Matthew (wife Bridgett) Singer; 3 step-grandchildren, Amee (husband Mike) Williamson, Megan (husband Bill) Hurst, and Ben Morrissey; 2 grand-dogs, Bun-Bun and Daisy; numerous great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; brother-in-law, Charles Meyer of Jonesboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2007, Richard D. Singer; 4 brothers, Albert Welches, Leon Welches, Howard Welches, Jr., and Lloyd Welches; 3 sisters, Ruby Gillum, Helen Meyer, and Carolyn Rushton.

A funeral service celebrating Wanda life and faith will be conducted at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1800 North A Street, Elwood with Rev. Ken Horning and Pastor Matthew Mehlhoff officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery in Elwood.  Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 4 to 8pm at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood, and from 10 to 11am on Wednesday prior to the funeral at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene through the funeral home.  Online expressions of condolence may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
