Obituary

Michael E. and Virginia "Kay" Landseadel, both age 78 of Tipton, entered into Heaven together on May 8, 2025 after an automobile accident just south of Tipton.  Their lives were devoted to one another for over 53 years following marriage on June 11, 1971, and it is fitting that they were together until their final day.  Mike was born May 30, 1946 in Elwood, the son of Forrest E. and Sarah L. (Mutt) Landseadel.  Kay was born January 20, 1947 in Elwood, the daughter of John R. and Mable Frances (Davis) Gillam.  They were both members of West Street Christian Church in Tipton and formerly members of the Hobbs Christian Church where they were married.

Mike was a 1964 graduate of Tipton High School before serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968.  Following military service, he attended I.T.T. Technical Institute to study electrical technology and communications.  Mike worked for TDS Communications in Tipton for 35 years retiring in 2006.  He also worked a short time at Ray Brothers & Noble Canning Company.

Kay was a 1965 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood.  She was a jewelry maker at Burr-Patterson and Auld Company (later J. Lewis Small Company) in Elwood for over 30 years, and she truly enjoyed her work.

Mike and Kay were often known as the "nicest people you've ever met".  They were well-known in Tipton, often being seen at Jim Dandy as well as local events.  Neither of them ever knew a stranger, and they always had a kind word for everyone they met.  You rarely saw one of them without the other.  Mike and Kay's lives was centered around their faith and their family.  Camping together was a favorite pastime for the Landseadel family for many years, and they especially loved traveling out west to Colorado.  Both of them enjoyed spending time with their dog, Rudy.  Mike, who was known as "The Phone Man" around Tipton, found joy in woodworking, fixing all kinds of things, and watching football while Kay loved working with flowers, reading, and making silk floral arrangements.  Both of them were known for taking exceptional care of their home and property, always keeping things noticeably attractive.  To say Mike and Kay will be remembered as devoted parents, grandparents, and friends would be an understatement.  They will never be forgotten.

Mike and Kay are survived by their beloved children, Tammey Landseadel of Tipton and Michelle (Robert) Kincade of rural Elwood; granddaughter, Maggie Grace Kincade; Mike's siblings, Anita Sue Scott of Tipton, Pamela (Ron) Stout of Sharpsville, and Lisa (Von) Mozzone of Bunker Hill; Kay's brother, Robert Eugene (Tricia) Gillam of Tipton; and several nieces and nephews.  They were both preceded in death by their parents; Mike's brother-in-law, Jim Scott; Kay's sister, Roberta Louise Kyle; and a special dog, Karson.

A funeral service celebrating Mike and Kay's life and faith will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with family member, Rev. David Kyle, officiating.  Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery in Windfall where military honors by the U.S. Army and Tipton American Legion honor guard will honor Mike's military service.  Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 pm on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project for Mike or the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation through the funeral home.  Online condolences and special memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
