Obituary

Victor D. Seright, Jr., age 83 of Fishers and formerly of Elwood, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Hamilton Trace Health Campus in Fishers following a brief illness. He was born August 27, 1929 in Elwood, the son of Victor D. and Lois (Leachman) Seright. Victor worked most of his life as a Design Engineer, designing machinery for the corrugated packaging industry. He retired from his own company – the Serenco Company. He was a 1947 graduate of Elwood High School, and a 1951 graduate of Ball State Teacher's College in Muncie. Early in his career, he taught for 2 years in the Remington and Elwood school systems, and later worked at the "Cotton" Candy Company in Cicero. He completed his graduate work at Ball State and U.C.L.A. He also formerly worked for General Motors Corporation for six years in sales and engineering. He was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Elwood where he was a member of the church choir. Vic especially enjoyed playing jazz music on the clarinet most of his life, and also enjoyed sketching, painting, playing bridge, and playing golf. He was an avid sailor, and was honored to serve as treasurer of the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club in Florida. He was also a former member of both the Punta Gorda Elks Lodge in Florida and the Quincy Masonic Lodge in Elwood.


His family includes 4 children, John (wife Charmian) Seright of Greensburg, Kay Mueller of Indianapolis, Laura (husband Kevin) Fewell of Mason, OH, and Amy (husband Tom) Updike of Carmel; sister, Jane Ann Lemen of Indianapolis; step-son, Scott Easley of Granger; 8 grandchildren, Josh (wife Evelyn) Walsman, Megan Mueller, Alex Mueller, Barbara Fehn, Tyler Fewell, Maggie Fewell, Shannon Collins, and Sean (wife Seeun) Updike; 3 great grandchildren, Isabel Walsman-Diaz, Preston Collins, and Elliott Collins; 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 16 years, Marilyn (Fettig) Seright who died in 2004; and his former wife, JoAnn (Cotton) Seright in 2011.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Copher-Fesler May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Chris Dare of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Entombment will be in the Elwood City Cemetery Mausoleum at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the funeral home.
