Catherine "Kate" Thrawl, age 92 of Elwood, died Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville after an extended illness. She was born January 9, 1922 in Elwood, the daughter of Pansy (Maley) Alder. Kate was a homemaker all of her life. She graduated from Elwood High School in 1940, and later married Glenn William Thrawl on April 19, 1941. She was a former member of East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood. Kate enjoyed reading, gardening, and especially loved taking care of her family.
Kate's family includes 3 children, Karen (husband Bill) McQuitty of Fishers, Glenn D. (Linda) Thrawl of Anderson, and Ken W. (wife Annette) Thrawl of Portland; 7 grandchildren, Lance (wife Nicole) Fettig, Lynne (husband John) Bunch; Jeffrey (wife Tammy) Fettig, Angela Thrawl, Matt Thrawl, Amy Vollenhaus, and Amber (husband Heath) Kelly; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, her husband of more than 37 years, Glenn W. Thrawl who died September 15, 1978; brother, Bob Alder; and sister, Naomi Kelly.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 AM on Friday, September 12, 2014 at the Elwood City Cemetery with Rev. Roger Gardner of the East Main Street Christian Church officiating.
