Thomas A. Guillemette, age 56 of Elwood, died August 26, 2012 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood following a very sudden heart condition. He was born June 30, 1956 in Manchester, New Hampshire, the son of Normand W. and Shirley May (Gagnon) Guillemette. Tom began working for the TOPS True Value Store in Elwood in October of 2003, and was currently an Assistant Manager. He was a 1974 graduate of Manchester Central High School. He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. During his service, he was stationed for a period of time in Germany and was stationed stateside during the Persian Gulf War. He married Donita K. Blackford on April 7, 1978. He was a member of the Elwood V.F.W. Post 5782 and the American Legion. He enjoyed being outdoors gardening, fishing, playing horseshoes, and 4-wheeling. Tom also enjoyed cooking and grilling-out, woodworking, and photography. He especially loved spending time with friends and family who loved him dearly, and he will be greatly missed by all.
His family includes his mother Shirley M. Guillemette of Deerfield, NH; wife, Donita (Blackford) Guillemette of Elwood; 3 sons, Justin Allen (wife Holli) Guillemette of Elwood, Steven Cory Guillemette of Elwood, and Jacob Andrew (wife Leah) Guillemette who is currently serving in the U.S. Coast Guard and stationed in Buzzards Bay, MA; 2 brothers, Jeff (wife Lana) Guillemette of Charlotte, NC and Bruce (wife Janice) Guillemette of Deerfield NH; sister, Donna Guillemette of Manchester, NH; 3 grandchildren, Kaylee Ann Guillemette, Joshua Andrew Guillemette, and Lucas Allan Guillemette; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Debora Stewart.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 6:00 PM at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Nate Warren of Grace Baptist Church in Elwood officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-6:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Military and the Elwood V.F.W. Post #5782 immediately following the funeral on Thursday at the funeral home.
