Theresa Lynn Cook , age73 of Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024 at Countryside Nursing Home in Anderson following an extended illness.  She was born July 14, 1951 in Elwood, the daughter of Gerald Francis and Evelyne Mae (Collier) Hayes.  Theresa attended Wendell L. Willkie High School.  She worked as a brake manufacturer for over 33 years at Dexter Axel, until she retired in 2014.  Theresa enjoyed being outdoors fishing, going boating at the lakes, and traveling with family and friends.  She liked to read, watch movies, and dance.  Theresa was always on the go with her sisters going shopping and staying in touch through the computer.  She had a kind heart towards animals, especially her dog, "Sophie". She loved nothing more than spending time with all of her family.

Theresa's family includes 3 children, Todd Baker of Anderson, Greg McCreary of Kendallville, IN, and Melissa Feightner of Kentucky; 2 siblings, Sue Shetterly of Pendleton, and Gary (wife Betty) Hayes of Anderson; 4 grandchildren, Cody, Tyler, Megan, and Luke; 4 great-grandchildren, Odin, Osiris, Odonis and one expected very soon; and several nieces and nephews.  Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Danny Hayes, David Hayes, and Jeffrey Hayes; and sister, Sandra Sprankle.

A funeral service celebrating Theresa's life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Burial will follow the service at Elwood City Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 pm on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024 prior to the service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.   To honor Theresa's love of animals, memorial contributions are suggested to ASPCA through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
