Obituary

Terry Lee Morris, Sr. , age 78 of Elwood, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family following an extended illness.  He was born November 2, 1945 in Elwood, the son of John T. and Louise A. (McPhearson) Morris.  Terry worked in production at Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo for over 15 years before retiring in 2008.  He formerly worked for Johns Mansville Corporation in Alexandria and Airfoil Textron in Elwood where he served as president of the union for many years.  Terry married Wanda Jean Johnson on November 1, 1966 and they enjoyed nearly 41 years of marriage.  He was a graduate of Frankton High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy.  Terry enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping muskrat and raccoon, and raising and running beagles and coon dogs.  He also formerly enjoyed raising cattle and farming as a hobby.

Terry's family includes 4 children, Terry (Missy) Morris, Jr. of Elwood, Debra (James) Emerick of Elwood, Tammy (Brian) Harris of Elwood, and Scott (Wendy) Morris of Elwood; companion of many years, Ruby Claybaugh of Elwood; brother, Robert (Ethel) Morris of Elwood; brothers-in-law, Paul McCool, and Steve Baird; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wanda Jean Morris who passed away September 3, 2007; grandson, Thomas Lee Morris; and 2 sisters, Carol Ann Baird and Linda L. McCool.

A funeral celebrating Terry's life will be conducted at 3 PM on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with his brother-in-law, Paul McCool officiating.  Burial will follow in Elwood City Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the U.S. Navy and the Elwood V.F.W. Honor Guard.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday prior to the funeral at the funeral home.   Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
