Obituary

Teddy C. Cox, Sr., age 68 of Elwood, died Monday, December 8, 2014 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after an extensive illness. He was born September 18, 1946 in Wewoka, Oklahoma, the son of Bill and Iva (Nelson) Cox. He retired in 2011 from Securitas Corporation in Houston, Texas where he worked as a security officer. Teddy served two terms in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He married Lisa M. Zech on October 21, 2001. Teddy enjoyed reading and watching western movies. He also enjoyed fishing, watching squirrels, and watching birds. Teddy was also an avid Houston Astros baseball fan. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

Teddy's family includes his wife of more than 13 years, Lisa M. Cox of Elwood; 2 sons, Teddy Cox, Jr. of Richmond, TX and Christopher (wife Nikki) Cox of San Antonio, TX; 3 step-children, April N. (husband Stacey) Shultz of Gas City, Christopher D.A. Clark of Elwood, and Tanya M. Chapman of Woodland, TX; brother, Nelson (wife E.J.) Cox of Texas; adopted brother, Robert Foster of Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Donna Chambliss of Elwood; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved grandparents who raised him, Siebert Glen Phillips and Zola Phillips; step-father, Frank Webb.

A funeral service celebrating Teddy's life will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Jennifer Charles of the First United Methodist Church officiating and will include military honors by the U.S. Military and Elwood V.F.W. Honor Guards. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home to offset funeral expenses.
