Obituary

Susan D. (Leisure) Gordon, age 75 of Elwood, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood following a very brief illness.  She was born December 13, 1942 in Elwood, the daughter of Max W. and Janiece (Jarvis) Leisure.  Susan worked as a Registered Nurse at Tipton Hospital; an industrial nurse for Fisher Body; a homecare nurse for Dana Corporation; and most recently a federal W.I.C. Program Certifier retiring in 1997.  She was a 1960 graduate of Fairmount High School and later attended a 3-year program at Ball Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.  She graduated in 1963 as a Registered Nurse.  She married Robert R. Gordon on January 25, 1964, and they shared 5 brief years of marriage together until his passing on June 6, 1969.  Susan was a member of Harmony Christian Church.  She appreciated art work and enjoyed crafts.  Susan liked to play euchre and attend day trips in Marion with her church group.  She especially enjoyed family gatherings on Sundays and holidays with her parents and her in-laws.  Susan was known for her dedication to nursing and how much she cared about improving the lives of others.  More than anything, she will be remembered for being very devoted to all her family.

Susan's family includes 3 children, Brian Noll (wife Gloria) Gordon of Petersburg, TN, Joseph Lee (wife Debby) Gordon of Fairmount, and Suzanne Gordon of Durham, NC; brother, Phillip J. (wife Marilyn) Leisure of Fairmount; 4 grandchildren, Adam Teegarden, Paige Cover, Cameron Teegarden, and Trenton Rutkowski Gordon; and 2 nieces and a nephew.  Susan was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert R. Gordon; and sister, Bonnie Lou Leisure in 1999.

A memorial service celebrating Susan's life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Harmony Christian Church (north of Elwood) with Pastor Ron Meyer officiating.  Burial will follow in Knox Chapel Cemetery in Fairmount.  Visitation for family and friends will be held for one hour prior to the service on Friday at Harmony Christian Church.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Harmony Christian Church through the funeral home or the church.  Arrangements are entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood, and online expressions of condolence may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
