Obituary

Sue Ann McDermit, age 75 of Elwood, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015 unexpectedly at her residence following a brief illness. She was born on September 10, 1939 in Elwood, the daughter of Herman O. and Agnes R. (Whetstone) Welcher. She worked at Thompson Consumer Electronics (RCA) in Marion in production for 22 years, and retired in 1995. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Elwood. Sue especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and extended family; and had enjoyed traveling with her family on numerous trips. She will be greatly missed for her cooking, and especially be remembered for baking delicious chocolate chip cookies. She also enjoyed flower gardening, working crossword puzzles, and reading. Sue loved watching Doris Day in movies and the television show I Love Lucy. Most importantly, she will be remembered for being a dedicated caretaker for many people through the years.

Sue is survived by her 2 daughters, Dee Ann (husband Don) Butts of Frankton and Tammy (husband Robert) Daulton-Quackenbush of Cloverdale; 2 brothers, Neal H. (wife Glenda) Welcher of Kokomo, and Myron E. Welcher of Muncie; brother-in-law, Larry Rominger of Elwood; 2 grandchildren, Jessica (husband Brian) Jent of Anderson and Gregory Wire of Frankton; 1 great-grandchild, Ethan Jent; former husband Richard (wife Karen) Daulton of Logansport; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Andrea (Welcher) Rominger.

A funeral celebrating Sue's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Larry Schimmell officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation through the funeral home.
