Obituary

Sue Ann Cummings , age 91 of Elwood, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Ascension-St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson after a long, well-lived life.  She was born February 23, 1934 in Summitville, the daughter of Herman C. and Ellen L. (Frazier) Ellsworth.  Sue was raised in the Christian faith from an early age.  Sue married her soulmate, Allen D. Cummings, Sr. on October 13, 1968, and they shared nearly 55 years of marriage together.  She was a devoted homemaker who loved raising her children and caring for her family.  In addition, Sue worked at K-Mart in greeting card displays, T-Way Department Store, and Ex-Cello Corporation in Elwood.

Sue enjoyed her life and her family.  She and Allen formerly enjoyed socializing at the Alexandria Eagles Club, bowling mixed doubles in local bowling leagues, and line dancing.  She also enjoyed gardening, playing the organ at home, feeding the birds in her yard, and cooking for her family.  More than anything, Sue cherished her family and the time she was able to spend with them.  Her family is comforted knowing Sue is reunited with her beloved Allen in Heaven.

Sue's family includes 4 children, Rick G. (Lisa) Leever of Markleville, Keith G. (Saundra) Leever of Elwood, Resa R. (Eric) Fox of Northville, Michigan, and Allen D. (Novalee) Cummings, Jr. of Jonesboro; 8 grandchildren, J.J. Leever, Shawn Leever, Tyler Fox, Lori Brooks, Mandy Gibson, Tasha Wilkinson, Heidi Province, and Jennifer Super; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Sue was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen Cummings, Sr., son, Jerry Leever, granddaughter, Alexa Rae Fox; and siblings, Jack Ellsworth, Ethel Murray, and Rex Ellsworth.

A funeral service celebrating Sue's life and legacy will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Joe Seaborn of Jones Chapel Church officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 to 2 pm prior to the funeral on Monday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Jones Chapel Church.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
