Shirley Ann Humphrey, age 76 of Summitville and former lifelong resident of Elwood, died Friday, September 14, 2012 at Summit Convalescent Center in Summitville following an extended illness. She was born October 6, 1935 in Elwood – the daughter of Ernest J. and Garnet (Hobbs) Richardson. She worked in the Housekeeping department of St. Vincent Mercy Hospital for many years. She formerly enjoyed bowling, and in later life enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.
Her family members include 3 children, Gregory E. (wife Debbie) Humphrey of Somerset, KY, David "Mike" (wife Kathy) Humphrey of rural Frankton, and Lisa (Husband John) Killian of Elwood; brother, Tom (wife Carolyn) Richardson of Anderson; 6 grandchildren, Jason (wife Jerree) Humphrey, Rachel Davis, Melissa Mapenzauswa, Jake Killian, Matthew Killian, and Paul Humphrey; 3 great-grandchildren, Brandon Humphrey, Raegan Humphrey, and Alisha Davis; and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rosemary (Richardson) Joliff-Mroz-Bateman; 5 brothers, Charles Richardson, Fred Richardson, Melvin Richardson, Robert Richardson, and Jimmy Richardson; and former husband, David Humphrey.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 17, 2012 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church officiating.
