Shirley A. Collis, 88, of Elwood passed away October 14, 2025 at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness. She was born on July 11, 1937 in Alexandria, IN, the daughter of William P. and Myrtle H. (Tallent) Kennedy. She was a graduate of Fairmount High School in 1956 and married Raymond F. Collis in May 1956. They shared 69 years of marriage and raised five children together. Shirley worked for many years at ExCello Corporation. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Elwood. In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening, camping, walking in the woods, and vacations to the beach. More than anything, Shirley will be remembered as a loving and loyal wife, mother, sister and aunt.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond; children: Mike (Roxanna) Collis of Red Lion, PA; Mark (Lisa) Collis of Fishers, IN; Bill Collis of Tipton, IN; Rich (Karen) Collis of Carmel, IN; and Stephanie Sanders of Fort Wayne, IN; as well as twelve grandchildren, Sarah (Brad) Samuelson, Noelle (Andy) DeVito, Caleb (Dianne) Collis, Lucas (Caitlin) Collis, Eli (Emily) Collis, Amanda (Justin) Floyd, Jacob (Andrea) Collis, Kyle (Jessie) Collis, Austin (Bunny) Collis, Elise (Ryan) Collis, Brittany (Adam) Drummond, and Chelsea (Ben) Raupfer. She also leaves behind 27 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind sisters: Alta Metzger, Margie Briles, and Susan (Darrell) Bogard and sisters-in-law, Barbara Green, MaryLou (Paul) Rodriguez and Kay (Dick) Mevzick and several nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings, as well as her beloved grandson, Micheal Collis II, and son-in-law David Sanders.
Shirley will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A funeral service celebrating Shirley's life and faith will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home, Elwood with Father Adam Mauman of the St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Riley Children's Hospital through the funeral home.
