Sherry Christina Hardman, age 65 of Elwood, died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis after a very sudden illness. She was born October 17, 1949 in Defiance, Ohio the daughter of Adam and Opal (Eurick) Bear, Sr. She was a homemaker all of her life. Sherry married Richard L. Hardman on June 17, 1978. She was a member of the United Christian Church and the Good Time Club both in Elwood. She enjoyed photography and picture-taking; crocheting; and reading. Sherry was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will always be remembered for having a smile on her face and being friendly and charitable to everyone.
Sherry's family includes her husband of more than 36 years, Richard L. Hardman, Sr. of Elwood; 4 daughters, Ginger (husband Paul) Silver-Christian of Elwood, Christina (husband Paul) Engle of Pennsylvania, Tammy Boner of Churubusco, and Debbie (husband Joe) Harris of Upland; 2 sisters, Caroline "Kay" Reese of Elwood and Kathy VanDyne of Goshen; 13 grandchildren, Tara Walters, Todd Clayman, Nicholas Boner, Joey Harris, Shawn Hutchens, Brock Harris, Steven Harper, A.J. Goempel, Bethany Christian, Pauly (wife Kat) Engle, Michael Engle, Aubrey Christian, Domini Christian; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard L. Hardman, II; granddaughter, Amber Hutchens; and brother, Adam Bear.
A funeral service celebrating Sherry's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Bobby Bickel of the United Christian Church officiating. Entombment will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery Mausoleum in Muncie. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital through the funeral home.
