Obituary

Shari E. Wilkinson , age 69 of Franklin and formerly of Elwood, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at I.U. Health – Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis following a battle with Covid.  She was born March 25, 1952 in Elwood, the daughter of Harry E. and Ruby J. (Savage) Albers.  Shari was a 1970 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School where she was valedictorian of her class.  She was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Elwood.  Shari last worked as a stock broker and financial advisor for Charles Schwab in Fishers and retired in 2015.  She lived in Yucca Valley, California for several years and also worked at Steve Frazer Accounting.

Shari was an extraordinary reader and was exceptionally good with numbers.  Amazingly, she read 650 books in 2020 and 638 books in 2021 as a devoted member of a reading club.  Shari loved watching sports, and was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts.  She absolutely adored her cat, "Minny", and loved spending time outside in the sunshine.  Shari enjoyed good conversations about almost anything and especially enjoyed reminiscing about stories and events in vivid detail.  Her family will remember her as a strong person who taught them to never give up.  Shari battled incurable non-Hodgins lymphoma since 2015 and always remained positive in every phase of her cancer treatments.  Sadly, she could not beat Covid; but her body is whole and healed now for eternity.

Shari's family legacy includes 4 children, DaLynda Sue Webb of Franklin, Dwayne Nelson (Stephanie) McTaggart, Jr. of Rochester, Sara Elizabeth Wilkinson of Yucca Valley, CA, and Matthew Phillip (Robin) Wilkinson of Greenwood; 3 siblings, Harry (Amy) Albers of St. Joe, Fred (Tracy) Albers of Alexandria, and Susan Atkinson of Lafayette; 9 grandchildren; a step granddaughter; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Shari was preceded in death by her parents; son, Darrin Michael McTaggart; and an infant great-grandson, Kyler McTaggart.

A funeral service celebrating Shari's life and legacy will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with her sister-in-law, Pastor Amy Beitelschees-Albers, officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Elwood.  Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 pm prior to the funeral on Friday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Health precautions for the safety of the family and visitors are appreciated.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the "I (heart) Cats" – theanimalrescuesite.com.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
