Sarah Elizabeth (Herd) Cogswell, age 101 of Greenwood, Mississippi died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Country Meadow Personal Care Home in Greenwood. She was born January 27, 1912 in Liberty Township, Ohio, the daughter of J. Bry and Eva (Moore) Herd. She was a 1930 graduate of Raymond High School, and attended business school in Columbus. She worked as a stenographer with the Ohio State Life Insurance Company for several years. Sarah married Robert Neal Cogswell on June 8, 1935. They moved to Marysville,Ohio in 1952 after purchasing the Marysville Hardware store, where they worked together until 1969.

Sarah's surviving family includes son, John Cogswell of Marysville, OH; daughter Marilyn Balam of Greenwood, MS; 3 grandchildren, Elisabeth (Mike) Craun of Waynesboro, VA, Gabrielle (Craig) Coughlin of North Andover, MA, and Bryan Balam of Greenwood, MS; 6 great- grandchildren; Nate and Milo Craun, and Nicholas, Ryan, Brendan, and Sarah Elizabeth Coughlin; 5 nephews; and 3 nieces, including Zema (Paul) Moder, who was a kind neighbor and loving friend.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 38 years, Robert Cogswell who died in 1973; 3 brothers, Ralph Herd, Dwight Herd and Paul Herd; and sister, Mabel Herd.
