Sarah Anne "Sally" (Hirsch) Leezer, age 86 of Marshfield, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield. Sally was born February 18, 1933 in Elwood, Indiana to Edward and Rose Marie (Carroll) Hirsch. Sally was a 1951 graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School in Elwood. She later received a nursing degree from St. Mary's College of Notre Dame, Indiana and pursued a career as a surgical nurse. Sally married the love of her life, James Leezer, on June 15, 1957, and they shared over 58 years of marriage together until his passing in 2015. As a surgical nurse, Sally worked at several different hospitals for over 25 years and retired from Mount Siani Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1981. Sally was an avid reader and especially loved to crochet. She made countless hats and scarves for the children's hospital, local shelters, and the homeless community. At any given time - she could be found with a crochet hook or knitting needles in her hands. Sally and her selfless acts of caring will never be forgotten.
Sally's family includes 5 children, Rose (husband Tom) Keuler of Maryland, Denise (husband Bruce) Wilson of St. Paul, MN, Greg (wife Anne) Leezer of Holly Springs, MS, Tracy (husband Steve) Smith of Eagan, MN, and Paul (wife Jodi) Leezer of Spencer, WI; 10 grandchildren, Adam (wife Jackie) Keuler, Nichole Barling, Alexis Leezer, Natalie (husband James) McElyea, Heather Gillis, TJ Woldum, Emma Woldum, Sarah Jane Smith, Gracie Leezer, and Mathew Leezer; and 6 great-grandchildren, Clint Reeves, Kelly Reeves, Hailey Hagen, Madilyn Barling, Lilli Barling, and Tyler Mader. Sally was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Leezer; brother, Bill (wife Carol) Hirsch; and nephew, Michael Hirsch.
A Memorial Funeral Mass for Sally will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood with Father Dan Duff officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Copher-Fesler-May has been entrusted with Sally's funeral arrangements. Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
