Sally A.
Folsom
Oct 5, 1959 — Jan 26, 2017
Sally A. Folsom, age 57 of Elwood, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017 surrounded by her family at her home following a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born on October 5, 1959 in Orange, CT, the daughter of Billy Ray and Frances (Jurny) Johns. Sally worked as an emergency dispatcher for the City of Elwood Police Department and for Madison County for more than 25 years, and retired early in 2017 due to declining health. Sally was a 1977 graduate of Delhaas High School in Bristol, PA. She married Byron Folsom on February 19, 1994, and they shared more than 22 years of marriage together. She was formerly an avid bowler and participated in several local bowling leagues. Sally always took pride in her job, and was an avid supporter of Relay for Life - having battled cancer nearly 13 years of her own life. She enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley music, loved collecting Panda bears, and enjoyed cooking with new recipes, especially desserts. Sally will be especially remembered as being a devoted wife and a devoted mother to her daughters. The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Sally, and especially nurses Meredith and Rita.
Sally's family includes husband, Byron Folsom of Elwood; 2 daughters, Kristin Folsom (companion Kyle Kordes) both of Jasper and Courtney Folsom (companion Cory Taapken) both of Elwood; 5 siblings, Billy (wife Roseanne) Johns, Jr. of Churchville, PA, Toni Johns of Hellertown, PA, Terry (wife Teresa) Johns of Defiance, OH, Randy (husband Michael) Godin of Levittown, PA, and Shari Johns of Levittown, PA; step-sisters, Angie (husband Rick) Gerard, Robin Taapken and her grandson, Ethan, and Lisa Payne-Gralow; mother-in-law, Francis Folsom of Frankton; sister-in-law, Nancy Johns, brother-in-law, Richard Lutz; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, "Lu-lu". Sally was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Henry Johns, sister, Francie Lutz, and father-in-law, Myron Folsom.
