Ruth E. Musick, age 92 and a long-time resident of Elwood, died March 4, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her family after a sudden illness. She was born April 3, 1920 in Frankton, the daughter of Armel C. and Shirliereed (Driskell) Jack. She retired from Emka Corporation in Elwood where she had worked in production for more than 15 years. She also formerly worked at Delco Remy Corporation in Anderson and the Monticello Company. Ruth was a 1938 graduate of Frankton High School. She married Cecil A. Musick in 1955. She attended Frankton Christian Church in her youth and later attended East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood. Ruth enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning vegetables from her garden, and maintaining her home and property. She also enjoyed shopping, and was known for having a great sense of humor. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Her family includes 4 children, Donald (Linda) Pitcock of Anderson, Patricia Mundy of Elwood, Judy Gaddis of Knightstown, and Gary Musick of Grover Beach, CA ; 12 grandchildren, Teresa Butterfield, Barbara Pitcock, Tasha (Zoley) Fraley, Laurie (Kevin) Bogard, Marcus (Amanda) Mundy, Christina Bates, Alyssa Gaddis, Lindsey Gaddis, Nathan Gaddis, Jon Gaddis, Candace McIndoo, and Joshua Peters; 18 great-grandchildren, Megan Butterfield, Heather Jones, Aaron and Braxton Carter, Amber and Heather Fraley, Megan (John) Gettelfinger, Noah, Eli, Jonah and Aiden Bogard, Mariah, Sierra, Nicole and Harley Mundy, Xavier McIndoo, and Susan and Jimmy Stewart; 7 great-great-grandchildren, Iris Gettelfinger, Jay and Ryan Currier, Terrone, Latoyia and Kayden Stewart, and Hayden Jones; 3 sisters-in-law, Anna Jack, Madonna Jack and Joyce Jack; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil A. Musick who died in 1960;
3 brothers, Allen (wife Dorothy) Jack, Ralph Jack, Wayne Jack; sister, Jean (husband Bill) Bradley; grandson, Jason Bates; and close friends, William Hill and Herman Bull.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Chaplain Tim Stigers officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
