Ruth C. Hardebeck, age 74 of Elwood, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 surrounded by her family at her residence in Elwood. She was born March 31, 1940 in Elwood, the daughter of Booth T. and Viola Mae (Skinner) Hamilton. She was a homemaker and farmwife all of her life. Ruth was a graduate of 1958 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood, and married John C. "Jack" Hardebeck on August 18, 1962. She was an organist for several years at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cicero and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood. Ruth was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Job's Daughters, the Lady Elks, and Kappa Delta Phi Sorority in Elwood. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Ruth's family includes 4 children, Cheryl (Hardebeck) Redwine of Muncie, Tami Hardebeck and husband Jim Mosby of Newburgh, Matthew Hardebeck and husband Scott McNall of San Francisco, CA, and David and wife Melanie Hardebeck of Atlanta; 7 grandchildren, Christopher (Amy) Hardebeck, Dustin (Jackie) Redwine, Megan Redwine, Joseph (Krista) Hardebeck, Hadley Mosby, Isabelle Hardebeck, and Wyatt Hardebeck; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 50 years, John C. "Jack" Hardebeck who died in 2010; 2 brothers, James Hamilton and Booth Hamilton; sister, Marjorie Overleese; and son-in-law, Terry Redwine.
