Russell E. "Rut" Warner, age 82 of Albany and formerly of Elwood, died Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born October 5, 1929 in Elwood, the son of Frank and Mildred (Grinstead) Warner. He worked in production for Delco Remy for over 30 years before retiring on January 1, 1981. He also owned and operated the "Rat Trap" Antique Shop in Elwood for many years. He was a 1947 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School. Russell married Frances J. Loser on September 18, 1971. He was a former member of East Main Street Christian Church. He enjoyed collecting antiques and woodworking.
Survivors include: wife of over 40 years, Frances J. Warner of Albany; daughter, Peggy Warner of Elwood; 2 sons, Matthew (wife Annie) Warner of Elwood and Mark Warner of English; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chuck and Michelle Loser of The Villages, Florida; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Patricia (McDaniel) Warner; daughter, Tracy Renee Warner; and sister, Wanda Ball.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Elwood officiated by Russell's son, Matthew Warner. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.
