Russell T. Garrison, age 68 of Frankton, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Community Hospital in Anderson after a brief illness. He was born December 20, 1946 in Elwood, the son of Ralph and Edell (Fellow) Garrison. In 1996, he retired from the Delco Remy division of General Motors where he worked in production for more than 26 years. He also formerly worked at Johns Manville Corporation in Alexandria for several years. He was a 1965 graduate of Frankton High School and later served in the Indiana National Guard. He married Trudy L. Brockner on February 7, 1999. Russell was a member of the UAW Local #662, and previously served as a union committeeman. He was a member of the Lapel American Legion Post #0212 for 43 years. Russell enjoyed classic cars; crime investigation shows - especially "Law & Order" and "Bones"; and was an avid NASCAR racing fan closely following his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. Russell also enjoyed working and mowing on his farm property.
Russell is survived by his step-daughter, Dawn (husband Dusty) Heald of Ogilvie, MN; step-son, Gordon (wife Kelly) Mitchell of Ogilvie, MN; 5 step-grandchildren; good friend, Patrick (wife Marie) Fetz of Elwood; and many cousins and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of more than 12 years, Trudy L. Garrison who died October 27, 2011; and a brother, Max Garrison.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Randy Murphy of the Cornerstone Community Church in Alexandria officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 10, 2015, prior to the service at the funeral home.
