Rosella E. "Rosie" Murray, age 91 of Fishers and formerly of Elwood, passed away on April 29, 2016 at Hamilton Trace Healthcare in Fishers following an extended illness. She was born December 24, 1924 in Elwood, the daughter of James and Myrta (Gustin) Brillhart. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at Switzer Corporation in Elwood for 27 years and retired in 1985. Rosie was a 1942 graduate of Elwood High School. She later married the love of her life, Jimmie K. Murray, on November 7, 1947, and they shared over 35 years of marriage together prior to his passing in 1982. Rosie was a devoted member of East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood where she was active in several ladies groups. She was also a member of the Elwood Chapter of American Business Women's Association (ABWA) and Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority. She enjoyed traveling, reading, watching Indiana Pacers basketball, listening to Big Band music, and dancing - especially the "jitterbug". Rosie will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her wonderful cooking.
Rosella's surviving family includes 2 daughters, Linda L. Kidwell of Noblesville and Rhonda K. Carpenter of Warner Robins, GA; Sister, Jeanne Eikenberry of Elkhart; 7 grandchildren, Angela Murray, Craig Murray, Katherine Murray, Lisa Henn, Heather Newcomb, Todd Adams, and Darren Kidwell; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmie K. Murray; son, Lynn D. Murray; brother, Robert Brillhart; sister, Lucille Genn; grandson, Eric Murray; and 2 sons-in-law, Robert Carpenter and Larry Henn.
Funeral services celebrating Rosella's life will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM prior to the funeral at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
