Rosalie Culp, age 91 of Elwood, passed away February 15, 2015 in Ridgecrest, California while visiting her son during the holidays. She was born April 29, 1923 in Westfield, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas J. and Jewel (Duckworth) Sprague. She was a 1942 graduate of Westfield High school in Westfield, IL. Rosalie retired from Sears Roebuck & Company in 1976 where she had worked in the catalog sales division for more than 16 years - working 8 years in Robinson, IL and 8 years in Elwood until her retirement. Rosalie married Doit Culp on September 26, 1942 and together they shared more than 68 years of marriage. Rosalie enjoyed watching golf on television. She was known for being a member of the "Party Hardee's" crowd at the local Hardees restaurant, and cherished visiting with her friends.
Rosalie's family includes son, Loren (wife Carrie) Culp of Ridgecrest, CA; 3 grandchildren, Trevor Eugene Culp, Chelsea Rose Culp and Dylan Thomas Culp. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doit Culp who died November 12, 2010; 4 brothers, Hank Sprague, Harold Sprague, Don Sprague, William Sprague; and her fraternal twin sister, Wanda Lee Sprague.
A funeral service celebrating Rosalie's life will be conducted at 11 AM on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 8 PM on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Following the services on Saturday, a reception will be held at Richard's Restaurant in Elwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson's Disease Foundation, the Disabled American Veterans, the Elwood F.O.P. or the Elwood Fire Department through the funeral home.
