Ronald Max Hinshaw, age 66 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025 at Ascension / St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.  He was born March 5, 1958 in Elwood, the son of Robert F. and Kathleen M. "Kate" (McDaniel) Hinshaw.  Ron was a 1976 graduate of Elwood Community High School and studied photography in college in Florida for a time.  Ron worked for over 30 years as a jewelry designer at J. Lewis Small Co. in Elwood where he enjoyed his work very much.

Ron a simple life of solitude.  He especially enjoyed arrowhead hunting all of his life and was a member of the Indiana Archeological Society.  Ron was also passionate about history and collecting music and records.  He had a great appreciation for St. Clair glass and enjoyed working for Joe Rice for several years as a glass blower.  Ron's family is comforted knowing that he no longer faces the daily challenges of M.S.

Ron's family includes two brothers, Larry B. (wife Sandy) Hinshaw of Iowa and Brian Randall "Randy" (wife Annie) Hinshaw of Elwood; 6 nieces and nephew, Lisa (Tam) Hinshaw-Nguyen of New York, Brett (Angela) Hinshaw of Westfield, Robert "Bobby" Frye II of Elwood, and Elliot Hinshaw of Elwood; and 6 great-nieces and nephew, Reaghan, Sabrina, Warrick, Gavin, Julian, and Rori.  Ron was preceded in death by both his parents.

Ron's wishes were to be cremated.  Private burial will take place in the Elwood City Cemetery at a later date.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
