Roger D. Woodrum, age 50 of Liberty, Kentucky and former longtime resident of Elwood, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville, Kentucky following multiple health complications. He was born on April 13, 1967 in Elwood, the son of Everett C. and Connie J. (High) Woodrum. Roger worked as a car detailing supervisor at Champion Dodge prior to his disability. He was a 1985 graduate of Elwood Community High School and he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball while in school. He was baptized in the Christian Church. Roger was an avid bowler and was once an active member of several bowling leagues. He loved fishing and was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers Football team. Roger will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Roger's family includes his parents, Everett C. and Connie J. (High) Woodrum of Kirklin; 2 children, Steven Tyler Woodrum of Kokomo and Jessicca Cobb of Indianapolis; brother, Charles Robert (wife Tammy) Woodrum of West Virginia; 2 sisters, Wanda (husband Willy) Penn of Elwood, and Cheryle Norwick of Alexandria; 2 grandchildren, Oliver and Waylon Woodrum; a close nephew, Dustin Woodrum of Florida; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Esther High; and paternal grandparents, Willis and Geneva Woodrum.
A graveside funeral service celebrating Roger's life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the Elwood City Cemetery in Elwood with Rev. Stan Alvey officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Jude Children's Hospital through the funeral home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.
