Roger E. Castor , age 61 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at I.U. Health – Arnett Hospital in Lafayette after a long battle with kidney disease and dialysis. He was born April 28, 1961 in Elwood, the son of Roy Eugene and Luana A. (Robertson) Castor. Roger was a 1979 graduate of Elwood Community High School where he was active in band and theater. He then obtained an Associate Degree in Management Information Systems from I.T.T. Tech as well as an Associate Degree in Accounting from Ivy Tech College. Roger was baptized in the First Baptist Church in Elwood where he remained a member. Roger last worked for Kroger in Noblesville for 7 years as the frozen food manager before his health prevented him from working. He also formerly worked for many years in the business office at Major Tool & Machine Company.
Roger truly enjoyed his life and loved spending time with his family. He liked Star Trek, music, reading, movies, science fiction, and watching gameshows – especially "Jeopardy". Roger especially enjoyed collecting comic books and pop figures for many years - amassing a large collection. In recent years, he also enjoyed visiting wineries and bourbon distilleries. Roger's family is comforted knowing he is free of health challenges and reunited with his father in Heaven.
Roger's family includes his mother, Luana Castor of Elwood; brother, Jeffrey Castor of Bloomington; nephew, Shane (Stephanie) Coley of Cincinnati, OH; niece, Emily Castor of Bloomington; 4 great-nieces & nephews, Brennan Coley, Marguax Coley, Croy Castor, and Dawsyn Routon. Roger was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Waldo & Nora Robertson and William and Lucille Castor.
A funeral service celebrating Roger's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Tim Becker of Main Street Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the funeral on Friday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
