Roger Kent Alfrey, age 60 of Austin, Texas and formerly of Elwood, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at St. David's North Austin Medical Center in Austin, Texas following a very brief and unexpected illness.  He was born January 20, 1958 in Elwood, the son of Rex Alfrey and Ann (Peitz) Caplinger.  Roger worked as an antique dealer, musician, and most recently worked at Kellie' Bakery in Austin as a baker.  He loved music and singing karaoke, especially big band music.  Roger's favorite artist was Frank Sinatra, who he performed remarkably well.  He also had a passion for collecting very intricate marbles.  More than anything, Roger will be remembered as a man who thoroughly enjoyed his life and loved to put a smile on everyone's face.

Roger's family includes mother, Ann Caplinger of Elwood; 3 brothers, Chris Alfrey of Elwood, Aaron (wife Brenda) Alfrey of Elwood, and Andrew "Andy" (wife Melissa) Alfrey of Elwood; sister, Margaret (husband Richard) Parks of Kokomo; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and extended family and friends in Austin, Texas.  Roger was preceded in death by his father; sister, Patricia Aldridge; and brother-in-law, David "Tim" Oakes.

A memorial service celebrating Roger's life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Father Dan Duff of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Elwood.  A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the memorial service on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Elwood Fire Department for purchasing medical equipment, through the funeral home.  Online expressions of condolence may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
