Obituary

Rick Ogan , age 64 of Elwood, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Ascension St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood. He was born August 7, 1961 in Wabash, the son of Thomas Leon and Beverly Joan (Culver) Ogan. Rick graduated from Northfield High School in Wabash in 1980 and continued his education by earning a degree in electrical engineering. From a young age, Rick was taught the value of hard work by his father—a lesson he embraced throughout his life. He dedicated many years to RCA and later served as a bus driver for Washington Township, always taking pride in a job well done. Even after retiring, Rick's strong work ethic led him to continue contributing to his community at various businesses, including Conner Prairie. Above all, Rick was devoted to his family. He married Leia Davis on February 28, 2015, and was a loving husband, father, and friend. Rick's greatest joy was providing for his loved ones and spending quality time with them. He was also a member of New Beginnings Fellowship Church, enjoyed time at the auto ranch, and was an avid collector of flashlights, knives, and coins. Rick loved cheering on his Purdue Boilermakers and attending Indianapolis Fuel Hockey games with his wife and family.  More than anything, Rick will be remembered as a loving son, husband, and father.

Rick is survived by his wife, Leia Ogan of Elwood; mother, Beverly Joan Ogan of Wabash; 2 children, Kenneth D. Ogan of Ingalls, and Kristin Ogan of Alexandria; sister, Karin K. (Doug) Brown of Wabash; 2 step sons, John Davis, and Anthony Davis; step-granddaughter, Olivia Davis; nephew, Cody (Halie) Brown; niece, Shannon (Andy) Brisbin; good friend, Scott Neal of Alexandria; 3 special dogs, Snickers, Stitch, and Sam; and several great-nieces.  Rick is preceded in death by his father, and niece, Kassandra Brown.

A funeral service celebrating Rick's life will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, April 6, 2026 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Scott Blaylock of Life Church officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Mississinewa Cemetery in Somerset.  A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm prior to the service on Monday, April 6, 2026.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Elwood Animal Shelter through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared with the Ogan family at copherfeslermay.com.
