Richard A. "Rick" Sizelove , age 73 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025 at Ascension-St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 22, 1951 in Elwood, the son of Paul "Jack" and Loretta "Lavon" (Loser) Sizelove. Rick was a 1969 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School. He worked at Ex-Cello Corporation (Airfoil Textron) in Elwood for many years before starting a career in auto sales. Rick was a well-known and respected car salesman for 30 years and was employed at Heiser Ford, Elwood Ford, Wyant Ford, and finally Fincannon Ford in Hartford City where he retired from in 2017. Rick also owned and operated Rick Sizelove Car Care in Elwood for many years on north Anderson Street.
Rick was a car enthusiast all of his life. He loved Corvettes and owned several through the years; going to car shows to check out hot-rods and classic cars; and watching Barrett-Jackson car auctions. Rick also enjoyed watching NASCAR races, and Dale Earnhardt, Sr. was his longtime favorite driver. In his free time, he watched the Andy Griffith Show and re-runs of several TV shows. Rick was a longtime member of the Elwood Elks Lodge #368 and enjoyed fellowship with the members. Rick was often seen driving through town in his Ford truck and he was known for being friendly to everyone he met along the way.
Rick was always proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments. He enjoyed watching Karsyn's drag races, attending Nick's plays with his sister, and riding his scooter to watch Nolan's baseball games. He would also sit in his truck on the sidelines to watch Kase's football games and Nash's soccer matches. Rick will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rick's family would like to thank Dr. Helm, Dr. Jetty, Dr. Dhillon & the Fresenius team, Kay Bell, and his cardiac rehab friends for all the years of exceptional care they provided to Rick.
Rick's family includes two children, Erica (Troy) Powell of Elwood and Cale (Niki) Sizelove of Noblesville; two siblings, Diana Dunham of Elwood and Ron (Patsy) Lawson of Elwood; 5 grandchildren, Karsyn (Collin) Creamer, Nicholas Sizelove, Nolan Sizelove, Kase Powell, and Nash Sizelove; sister-in-law, Anita Sizelove; longtime best friends, Bob Howard of Oklahoma, Peg McCool of Elwood, and Jerry Skoczylas of Elwood; and several nieces and nephews.
