Richard A. "Dick" Gross, age 76 of Porter and formerly of Elwood passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at his home. He was born September 12, 1936 in Elwood, the son of Carl Vernon and Kathryn (Farmer) Gross. He retired from Ruan Trucking Company where he was a diesel mechanic for many years, and formerly worked for United Trucking Company for many years. He served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps. Dick married Bessie Ritchie on November 14, 1959. He formerly attended the Charity Inn Church in Elwood. He enjoyed working on cars, managing his rental properties, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Dick's family includes 3 children, Richard A. (wife Theresa) Gross II of Porter, Sherry (husband John) Scircle of Knoxville, TN, and Michael W. Gross of Elwood; brother, Ed (wife Nancy) Gross of Marion; 4 grandchildren, Samantha and Kayla Gross of Porter, Aimee (husband Oswaldo) Santos of Hobart, and Austin Scircle of Knoxville, TN; great-granddaughter Camila of Hobart; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bessie (Ritchie) Gross who died January 31, 2009; 2 brothers, Harold and Bill; and 3 sisters, Susan, Judy, and Kathryn.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Stan Alvey officiating. Burial will follow at Elwood City Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Military and the Elwood V.F.W. Honor Guards. Visitation will be held Monday, December 3rd from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
