Rexie L. "Pappy" Clark, age 78 and a life-long resident of Elwood, died unexpectedly at his residence on Monday, August 24, 2015. He was born September 19, 1936 in Elwood, the son of Hiram Bennett and Thelma (Brummett) Clark. He attended Elwood schools and later served his country in the U.S. Army during peacetime in Germany following the Korean War. Rexie married Barbara A. Goens on July 12, 1958. He worked in maintenance for nearly 35 years at Steel Slitting Corporation in Elwood. He formerly attended the Southside Wesleyan Church in Elwood. Rexie formerly enjoyed restoring old cars, fishing, and was well-known for loving snack foods. He watched the "Price Is Right" gameshow every day for many years - even taking his lunch break at the right time to watch the show. More than anything, Rexie loved spending time with his grandkids and will be greatly remembered for tormenting and teasing them.

His family includes 4 children, Bennett J. (wife Christy) Clark of Elwood, Connie (husband Harold) Heater of Elwood, Tom (wife April) Clark of Tipton, and Roxie (husband Rob) Fred of Elwood; 4 brothers, Robert Clark of Elwood, Fred Clark of Tennessee, Earl Clark of Elwood, and Bill (wife Patty) Clark of Tipton; 15 grandchildren, Audra Clark, Amber Clark (companion Ryan Byrd), Landon Caldwell (companion Tinu Olonoh), Kaitlin Clark, Logan Caldwell, Lauren Caldwell, Alicia Smith (companion Mark Savage), D.J. Smith (companion Brad Amiano), Megan (husband Rev. Nate) Warren, Melissa (husband Rev. Mark) Passmore, Caleb (wife Kylie) Clark, Jessica (husband Jacob) Parker, Hope Fred, Jackie (wife Jessica) Idlewine, and T.C. (wife Abbie) Heater; 13 great-grandchildren, Bennett, Kole, Drake, Darek, Makenzie, Malachi, Taylor, Mattie, J.T., Noah,
Manda-Lynn, Mark, and Rylan; a great-grandchild expected in 2015, and another expected in 2016; and several nieces and nephews.

Rexie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of more than 54 years, Barbara A. Clark who died September 14, 2012; sister, Bonna Wilhoite; 2 brothers, Bennett Clark and Timothy Clark; grandson, Chad E. Clark; and great-grandson, Zak T. Clark.

A funeral service celebrating Rexie's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 28, 2015 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilkens Cemetery in Tipton County with military honors by U.S. Army and Elwood V.F.W. Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home.
