Regina M. Bourff, age 86 of Tucson, AZ and former longtime resident of Elwood, died Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Tuscon Hospice Center. She was born September 9, 1926 in Tipton County, the daughter of Frank and Josephine (Koors) Altherr. Regina retired from St. Thomas the Apostle Parish Catholic Church in Tuscon where she had worked as an Administrative Assistant for several years. She had also formerly worked at Mangas Cafeteria in Elwood, Montgomery Ward, Mercy Hospital, and the Cigna Insurance Company. She married Apperson B. "Abe" Bourff on January 19, 1946.
She was a 1942 graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School in Elwood, and later graduated with the class of 1969 of Wendell L. Willkie High School after many years of homemaking and caring for her children. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elwood, the National Conference of Catholic Women, and St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Tucson. Regina loved living in Arizona and spent many happy years there following the death of her husband.
Regina's family includes 6 children, Becky Strong of Kokomo, Jeff (wife Pamela) Bourff of Zionsville, Trudy (husband Mike) Lewis of Elwood, Joe Bourff of Tipton, Jude (wife Dee) Bourff of Elwood, and Maria Bourff of Syracuse ; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of over 35 years, Apperson "Abe" Bourff who died July 11, 1981; 2 brothers, Leo Altherr and Urban Altherr; daughter, Lorraine Johnson Kelich; and granddaughter Michelle Lewis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Father Dan Duff of St. Joseph Church officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Joseph Church Building Fund or the American Heart Association through the funeral home.
