Obituary

Rebecca Marilyn Poor , age 94 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family after a long, full life.  She was born May 14, 1929 in Elwood, the daughter of Harold R. and Florence W. (Wells) Orbaugh.  Becky was a 1946 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School.  She married Robert C. Poor on June 1, 1952 and they shared 55 years of marriage together until his passing in 2007.  Becky was a lifelong member of East Main Street Christian Church.  She worked for many years as a secretary first at Continental Can Co. in Elwood and later at Fettig Canning Company which became Red Gold.  Becky was also a devoted homemaker who was always busy raising her family.  She and Bob enjoyed taking summer trips to the lake cottage at Lake Wawasee as well as memorable trips to the Great Smoky Mountains.  In recent years, Becky enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and reading fiction.  She was known for her delicious cooking, baking, and playing the piano.  Becky also liked watching television and cheering on her favorite basketball team, the Golden State Warriors.  Her family is comforted knowing Beck has been reunited with Bob in Heaven.

Becky's family includes 4 children, Deborah Leeson-Hobbs of Elwood, Michael (Maria) Poor of Greenfield, Stephen (Dawn) Poor of New Haven, and Eric (Lori) Poor of Elwood; 8 grandchildren, Erin Leeson, Adam (Crystal) Poor, Benjamin (Erica) Poor, Brookelynn (Kevin) Klee, Ryan (Rachel) Poor, Austyn Poor, Faith Poor, and Klaetyn Poor; 3 great-grandchildren, Chloe Woodard, Olivia Klee, and Barrett Poor.  Becky was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Poor; brother and sister-in-law, Phillip & Bette Orbaugh; daughter, Laureen Deann Poor; and sons-in-law, Tim Leeson and Darrell Hobbs.

A funeral service celebrating Becky's life will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church officiating.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday prior to the funeral at the funeral home.   Burial will take place privately in Elwood City Cemetery.  Memorial contributions are suggested to East Main Street Christian Church through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
