Obituary

Randy L. Hines, age 57 of Elwood, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2019 at his residence following a brief battle with cancer.  He was born May 29, 1961 in Anderson, the son of Jimmy Hines and Linda (Swindell) Butler.  He attended Alexandria High School with the class of 1979, and later attended Professional Career Institute in Indianapolis to obtain a degree in computer technology.  Randy worked as a custodian for Caravan Knights at Chrysler in Kokomo for over four years, and previously worked at General Cage in Elwood for 8 years.  He had also been employed at ELSA Corporation in Elwood for a short period of time.  Randy took great pride in his home, and especially loved caring for his lawn.  He enjoyed playing pool, watching sports - especially Indianapolis Colts football and Chicago Cubs baseball.  Growing up, Randy earned the nickname "Hinesy", and it stuck with him for life.  He was a member of the Alexandria Eagles Lodge, and he also loved to spend time with his cats.  More than anything, Randy was a kind, gentle, and hardworking man who loved to spend time with his family.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Randy's family includes his mother, Linda (husband Kent) Butler of Elwood; brother, Ronnie (wife Cindy) Hines of Muncie; 2 sisters, Ronda Hines of Elwood and Robin (husband Terry) Peek of Fairmount; 3 nephews, Owen Peek, Brandon Hines, and Cody (wife Ashley) Hines; niece, Kassey Hines; and 2 great-nieces, Xaida and Meka Hines.  Randy was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Hines; maternal grandfather, Howard Swindell; and paternal grandparents, Bob and Leetha Hines.

A funeral service celebrating Randy's life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Rodney Ellis of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Elwood officiating.  Burial will follow in Knox Chapel Cemetery in rural Fairmount.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Monday prior to the service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.   Memorial contributions are suggested to the Morrisett Center Food Pantry through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
