Rachel I. Rector, age 78 of Elwood, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016 at her home following an extended illness. She was born November 26, 1937 in Alexandria, the daughter of Hobert "Hop" and Ermon (Shelton) Beaty. Rachel retired in 2000 from St. John's Hospital in Anderson where she worked as a Respiratory Therapist for many years. She also formerly worked at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood for several years. She was a 1955 graduate of Alexandria High School. Rachel married Lowell Rector in 1975, and he passed away in 2004. Rachel was a devoted member of Main Street Wesleyan Church where she was an active member of the Bible Class Sunday School class, the Single Sisters group, the B.Y.F. (Best Years Fellowship) group, and served on the funeral dinner committee for many years. Rachel was also a member of the 50+ club in Elwood. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Rachel's family includes 4 children, Kim (wife Vicky) Green of Anaheim Hills, CA, Kevin Green of Elwood, Kelly Green of Aroma, and Ricky Rector of Riverside, CA; sister Oleta Veach of Anderson;
3 grandchildren, Jamie Reitz, Hunter Green, and Kayleigh Green; great grandson, Michael Green; and her beloved dog, "Sadie".

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lowell Rector; 3 sisters, Juanita Parker, Inita Evans, and Dora Hinkle; and a brother, Hobart Beaty.

A graveside service will be conducted privately at Parkview Cemetery in Alexandria. Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.
