Obituary

Phyllis Roberta (Sizelove) Harrison, age 85 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at her residence after a long, well-lived life. She was born June 11, 1930 in Elwood, the daughter of Hancil and Margaret (Green) Sizelove. She retired from Ex-Cello Corporation in Elwood where she worked in production for 35 years. Phyllis was a 1948 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School, and shortly after married the love of her life, Royal C. Harrison, Jr. on June 18, 1948. Phyllis was a devoted member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Elwood where she was a member of the Bykota Sunday School class; served as a Deaconess; and formerly assisted with funeral dinners and church bazars. Phyllis was also formerly active in bowling leagues at Well's Lanes in Elwood, was a member of a ladies Sorority, and was an avid sports fan – especially her own grandchildren's sports. More than anything, Phyllis was devoted to her family and will always be remembered for having a smile on her face.

Survivors include 2 children, Garry (wife Debra) Harrison of Chino Valley, AZ and Denise (husband Bill) Kessinger of Elwood; 9 grandchildren, Jessica (fiancé John) Harrison, Zachary Harrison, Sabrina Harrison, Aaron (wife Angie) Harrison, Lyndsy Harrison, Billy (wife Jenny) Kessinger, Tom Kessinger, and Kristi (husband Dave) Kitz; 8 great- grandchildren, Shella, Dylan, Kylie, Jillian, Grace, Blake, Hayden, and Lincoln; family in-laws, Millie & Bob Harrison of Frankton, Dana & Gene Harrison of Kansas, and Chicquela McGuire of Elwood; and beloved dog, "Peanut".

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, Royal C. Harrison, Jr. who died in 2013; son Randy Harrison who died in 2014 and his wife Karen Harrison who died in 2013; grandson, Joseph Ross Swafford in 1981; and sister, JoAnn McCorkle.

A funeral service celebrating Phyllis' life will be conducted at 11 AM on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Rodney Ellis of the First Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Elwood alongside her husband and grandson.
