Obituary

Phillip E. Dauenhauer, age 71 of Elwood, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness.  He was born July 8, 1945 in Noble County, the son of Leo G. and Bernita E. (Sharpe) Dauenhauer.  Phil retired from Delco Remy division of General Motors Corporation in Anderson where he had worked for over 30 years in production.  He was a 1963 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School and later proudly served in the Indiana National Guard for many years.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood.  He was also a member of the Elwood Elks Lodge #368 and formerly a member of the Elwood Country Club where he was a frequent golfer with his friends.  Phil spent many winters in Florida and Tennessee, and enjoyed golfing at different courses.  He also found enjoyment in fishing, gardening, picture puzzles, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and watching all kinds of sports.  He and his family members loved playing "Skip-Bo" nearly every week, and will treasure memories of those times together.  More than anything, he will be remembered as being extremely devoted to all of his family.

Phil's family includes 5 sisters, Kathleen (husband Ron) Holtsclaw of Detroit Lakes, MN, Judy Weddell of Tipton, Susan (husband Jim) Vandiver of Summitville, Rita (husband John) Borst of Elwood, and Becky (husband Doug) Bouslog of Frankton; 4 brothers, John Dauenhauer of Elwood, George (wife Jan) Dauenhauer of Elwood, Mick (wife Karen) Dauenhauer of Valpariso, and Leo (wife Cathy) Dauenhauer of Fort Wayne; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law, Judy Dauenhauer.

A funeral Mass will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Monday, January 2, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood with Father Dan Duff presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Elwood.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 AM on Monday, January 2, 2017 at Copher-Felser-May Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund through the funeral home.  Online expressions of condolence may be made at: copherfeslermay.com.
