Penelope R. "Penny" Hunt , age 73 of Elwood, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at I.U. Health-Ball Hospital in Muncie following a brief illness. She was born June 16, 1948 in Elwood, the daughter of John A. and Margaret M. (Cox) Kantner. Penny was a 1966 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School. She retired from Park 100 Foods in Tipton where she worked in packaging for over 20 years. Penny married the love of her life, Timothy Ray Hunt, on June 8, 1985 and they shared over 36 years of marriage together. She formerly enjoyed bowling on local bowling leagues. Penny also enjoyed working cross word puzzles, cutting coupons on Sundays, and playing Wii bowling with her grandchildren. She especially liked to watch television and the Hallmark channel, cooking programs, and game shows were her favorites. Penny had a special place in her heart for her cats, "Itsy" and "Bitsy". More than anything, she cherished each and every moment she spent with her family.
Penny's family includes her husband, Tim Hunt of Elwood; 2 daughters, Margaret (husband Tony) Thornberry of Elwood and Rachel Larkin of Elwood; brother, John Kantner of Alexandria; 3 grandchildren, Zoe Thornberry, Ian Thornberry, and Michael Larkin; special friend, Donna (husband Justin) Smith of Elwood; and several nieces and nephews. Penny was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Michael Kantner and Danny Kantner; sister, Carolyn "Babe" Davis, and 2 nephews, Ivan Kantner and John "Little John" Kantner.
A funeral service celebrating Penny's life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 29, 2021 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Rodney Ellis of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Elwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Health precautions for the safety of the family and all visitors are greatly appreciated. Memorial contributions are suggested to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
