Peggy Jean McElfresh, age 72, a longtime resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, January 16, 2016 following extensive health issues. She was born April 28, 1943 in Washington County, Kentucky the daughter of Stanley Lee and Dorothy Mae (Lewis) Sallee. She retired from Central Metal Products in Windfall where she formerly worked as a Production Manager and Foreman for over 10 years. Peggy attended Frankton High School, and later devoted much of her time to her family and pets. She enjoyed visiting casinos, playing bingo, and cooking for her family. She loved animals very much – especially her dog, "Buddy". Peggy's family is proud that she was recently Baptized after entering Hospice care. More than anything, she loved her family and will be greatly missed by them and many beloved friends.
Peggy's living family includes her son, Ronnie Amos (companion Rita Phillips) both of Anderson; special niece and "daughter", Debbie (husband Arlyn) Fincher of Anderson; great-granddaughter, Addison Maurer; special friends, Debbie Gregg, Faith Trimble, Judy Harding, John Humphrey, Connie Goodnight (Rick), and Kent Swain; brother, Kenneth (Becky) Sallee of Elwood; sister, Mary (Sonny) Amos of Elwood; sister-in-law, Rita Sallee of Silver Lake; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Stanley H. Sallee.
A service celebrating Peggy's life will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Jim Snapp of the Curtisville Christian Church officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from noon to 2:00 PM prior to the life celebration service on Thursday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Following services, cremation will take place and burial of her ashes will take place privately by the family at a later date.
