Obituary

Peggy L. Beasley , age 75 of Elwood, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Ascension / St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis after being life-lined from Elwood.  She was born June 9, 1947 in Elwood, the daughter of Britt and Hessie (Hayes) Elledge.  Peggy was a 1965 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School and later graduated from the Indiana University - Kokomo registered nursing program.  She worked for 16 years as a Registered Nurse and Surgical Nurse at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.  She also formerly worked at Mercy Hospital in Elwood, Ball Hospital in Muncie, and Goshen Hospital while living at her lake home.  Peggy married Gary V. Beasley on October 20, 1972 and they shared just 8 days short of 50 years of marriage together and raising their family.

Peggy was a devoted lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Elwood where she served on numerous committees through the years.  She loved spending time with her family and watching her kids and grandkids play sports through the years.  She was known for being an excellent baker, making homemade cakes and goodies for all her family.  Peggy and Gary enjoyed living at the lake near Syracuse for many years, and they were currently spending winters at their home in Bradenton, Florida.  Peggy was a member of the Red Hat Society and the "Ya-Ya Sisters" in Elwood and truly enjoyed socializing with her friends.  Peggy enjoyed dancing, crafting, and working on DIY projects around her home.  She had just attended her 50 th class reunion in September and was very active with her reunion committee.  In recent years, she started playing the Ukulele and was looking forward to traveling to Florida for additional lessons.  Peggy always had a smile on her face and lived her life to the fullest.  She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Peggy's family includes her husband, Gary Beasley of Elwood; two daughters, Alicia (Matt) Norris of Elwood and Amber (Chad) Fleck of Jasper; step-son, Ken Beasley of Brownsburg; two brothers, Dennis Elledge of Elwood and Jerry (Andrea) Elledge of Elwood; three beloved grandchildren, Breelyn Norris, Stella Fleck, and Laken Fleck; sisters-in-law, Mickey Turco of Illinois, Debbie (Beryl) Atkinson of Florida, and Kenya Beasley of Syracuse; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many special friends.  Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Fred Adair; in-laws, Gus and Dorothy Beasley; granddaughter, Cora Fleck; sisters-in-law, Joyce Elledge, Joy Kaiser, Sandy Laub, and Sherry Brannock; and brother-in-law, Ron Beasley.

A funeral service celebrating Peggy's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Travis Harrielson of the First Baptist Church officiating.  Cremation will follow the funeral and burial will take place at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park in Elwood.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm prior to the funeral on Saturday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
