Pauline Clara Riser, age 97 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood following a very brief illness. She was born on September 6, 1919 in Detroit, Michigan to Charles and Mabel (Wimmer) Detrick. Pauline worked as homemaker and devoted housewife most of her life, and enjoyed caring for her family. She also formerly worked at Montgomery Ward and the Fettig's Canning Company cafeteria for several years. She married George W. Riser in 1941 and they were blessed with 69 years of marriage together.
Pauline was a longtime, devoted member of St. John Lutheran Church in Elwood. She was also formerly active with George in the Elwood Moose Lodge. Pauline enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, and was known for her pistachio pudding and other delicious desserts. She also formerly enjoyed bowling in several leagues at Lucky Strike Lanes in Elwood for many years. Her and George were honored to be selected as King and Queen of the Elwood Senior Prom several years ago. Pauline was devoted to her family, and was known as "Granny" by most of her family members and many close friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her Son, Charles W. (wife Debbie) Riser of Indianapolis; Brother, Charles (wife Cat) Detrick of Plymouth; 2 Grandchildren, Gregg (wife Terri) Riser of Putnamville and Kelly (husband David) Albertson of Brownsburg; 4 Great-Grandchildren, Luke Albertson, Emily Albertson, Reese Riser, and Jesse Riser; Longtime friend and caretaker, Brenda Standridge of Elwood; Former Daughter-in-Law, Diana Riser; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband, George W. Riser; and Brother, Vernon Detrick.
A Life Celebration Funeral Service for Pauline will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Kal Rissman of St. John Lutheran Church officiating. Entombment will take place in the Elwood City Cemetery Mausoleum in Elwood. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday prior to the funeral service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
