Obituary

Patricia Ann Burger , age 73 of Elwood, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at her residence following an extended illness.  She was born July 19, 1950 in Butler County, Kentucky, the daughter of Woodrow and Alma (Phelps) Martin.  Pat married Richard A. Burger, Jr. on July 4, 1981, and they shared over 41 years of marriage together before his passing in 2023.  She took great joy in caring for her family and always being there for everyone.  Pat attended the Joy Christian Church in Elwood.  She especially enjoyed crocheting and solving crossword puzzles.  Pat was known for being a great cook and had a way of adding just enough "love" to everything she made.  More than anything, Pat will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Pat's family includes 8 children, Joyce (husband James) Cline of Elwood, Janice (husband Fred) McIntosh of Elwood, Amanda Burger (Ben Blackford) of Elwood, Robert Burger of Tennessee, Tammy Stanley of Yorktown, Jennifer (husband Scott) Riley of Anderson, Jeff (wife Shelly) Burger of Frankton, and Angie (husband James) Capps of Elwood; daughter-in-law, Terry Groover of Elwood;  brother, James Martin of Kentucky; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Pat was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Burger; son, Mark Groover; and 7 siblings, Beatrice Dulworth, Cordie Martin, Virginia Brown, Regina Diann Ramsey, Harold Martin, Rebecca Cornwell, and Donna Morge.

A funeral service celebrating Pat's life will be conducted at 1:30 pm on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Brad Collett of Solid Rock Church officiating.  Burial will follow the service in the Elwood City Cemetery where she will be buried next to her husband.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm on Thursday prior to the service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.   Memorial contributions are suggested to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
