Obituary

Patricia Allene Bivens , age 77, of Elwood, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, October 17, 2025, after a brief yet courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 22, 1948, in Madisonville, TN, she was the cherished daughter of Paul and Neda (Shiflett) Bivens. Patricia was a devoted mother whose gentle spirit and unwavering love touched all who knew her. She worked in various roles outside the home, including as a cashier and a candy maker, always bringing warmth and kindness to those around her. A faithful member of Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Elwood, Patricia's faith was the foundation of her life. She found joy in crocheting and treasured moments spent dining with loved ones at Lincoln Square and Friendly's. Patricia's heart of gold shone brightly—she gave selflessly and would do anything for anyone. She will be remembered always as a devoted mother, beloved grandmother, and dear sister, whose legacy of love endures in the hearts of her family and friends.

Patricia is survived by her 7 of her 8 children, Patrick (Kim) Hutchison of Southside, AL, Stephen Whittaker of Elwood, Misty (Brandon) Deavers of Tipton, Stephan (Lewis) Large of Huffman, TX, Rachel (Chuck) Berrymen of Alexandria, Robert (Kristi) Weaver of Elwood, and Rebecca (James) Roark of Decatur, IL; 3 siblings, Deanie Gibson of Anderson, Paul Bivens, Jr. of Alexandria, and Rachel (Joe) Vanhorn of Anderson; sister-in-law, Marie Bivens of Chesterfield; and 26 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 expected in the coming months; and several nieces and nephews.  Patricia is preceded in death by her parents; brother, James W. Bivens; brother-in-law, Thomas Gibson; grandson, Adam Deavers; and daughter, Karen Sigler.

Patricia's wishes were to be cremated and her family will have a celebration of her life in May of 2026.  Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood is honored to handle Patricia's arrangements.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
