Obituary

Norman L. McClintock, age 84 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 16, 2018 surrounded by his family at home following an extended illness.  He was born May 23, 1934 in Hamilton County, the son of Clarence G. and Christina "Pearl" (Smeltzer) McClintock.  He was a 1953 graduate of Jackson Central High School in Hamilton County.  He married the love of his life, Marilyn "Sue" Newton, later that year on December 4, 1953, and they shared nearly 65 years of marriage together.  In his younger years, Norman worked with the Civil Defense Corps.  To Norman's family, he was always known as "Johnnie".  Norman was the owner and operator of McClintock's Radio Sales in Elwood for over 50 years, and he never retired.  He still worked in the business he loved so much, and he enjoyed working at his shop on the west edge of Elwood and interacting with his customers.  Norman also formerly worked as a supervisor at Westinghouse and worked at the Ford Motor Co. plant in Indianapolis.  Norman formerly attended the Arcadia Church of the Brethren, and in recent years he attended Omega Christian Church as his health permitted.  He was formerly an active member of several area CB Clubs, and his CB handle was "Indiana Redbird".  He and Sue also owned and operated the Washington School Antique Mall for several years.  Norman enjoyed western and cowboy movies and history.  He had lots of fun traveling with his brother, Don, to several cowboy conventions where they met stars such as John Hart, "The Lone Ranger".  They also enjoyed visiting the Roy Rogers museum.  More than anything, Norm was devoted to caring and providing for his family.

Norman's family legacy includes his wife, Marilyn "Sue" McClintock of Elwood; 4 children, Cheryl (husband Kevin) Morgan of Elwood, Terri Altherr (Mark Elliott) both of Arkansas, Randy (wife Erica) McClintock of Elwood, and Amber (husband Mike) Courtney of Elwood; brother, Don (wife Sharon) McClintock of Noblesville; 2 grandchildren, Amanda Altherr and Alyssa Courtney; step-grandson, Preston Blakley; 2 great-grandchildren, Alexander Altherr and William Oliver Altherr; 2 nieces, Charlene Lambert and Darlene Wright; nephew, Rob McClintock; special friends, Ranny (wife Janice) Simmons of Elwood; and his beloved dog, "Izzi".

Norman was preceded in death by both his parents; sister, Wreatha Eileen Gribbon; son-in-law, Bill Altherr; and good friend, Bob Fesler.

A funeral service celebrating Norman's life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Omega Christian Church in Hamilton County with Rev. Neal Brown officiating.  Burial will follow in Carey Cemetery in Hamilton County.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3 to 7 pm on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Carey Cemetery Association or the Omega Christian Church through the funeral home.  Online expressions of condolence may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
