Norma Pearl Rott , age 98 of lifelong resident of Elwood, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 5, 2024 at her residence following a long, well-lived life. She was born Mar. 16, 1925 in Elwood, the daughter of Evan and Elsie Blanche (Franklin) Taylor. Norma was a 1943 graduate of Elwood High School. She married John H. Rott on Nov. 21, 1964, and shared over 40 years of marriage together before his passing in 2005. She worked as a nurse aid at Mercy Hospital in Elwood for over 20 years and retired in 1987. Norma was a longtime, devoted member of Main Street Wesleyan Church in Elwood. Norma was a staple at the church and prayed for everyone. At church, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, leading Bible study on Wednesday nights, and hosting a regular prayer group. Norma formerly enjoyed traveling (especially to church conferences), reading, solving crossword puzzles, and completing word searches. She especially loved fellowship with her close friends and playing cards on Friday nights. Norma's family and friends find peace knowing that she is rejoicing in her Heavenly home.
Norma's family includes granddaughter, Jessica Singer of Elwood; close friend, Julia Pierce of Elwood; and all her extended family at Main Street Wesleyan Church. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John H. Rott; daughter, Gwen Brown; 6 brothers, Ercel Taylor, Wayne Taylor, Evan Taylor, Wesley Taylor, Emmet Taylor, and Jerry Taylor; and 2 grandsons, Rod Singer, and Jason Singer.
A funeral service celebrating Norma's life and faith will be conducted at 1 pm on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Neal Brown and Pastor Tim Becker officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Elwood City Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the funeral on Saturday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Main Street Wesleyan Church through the funeral home. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
