Nicole M. Garner, age 39 of Elwood, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at I.U. Health Methodist Hospital following a brief illness. She was born January 24, 1979 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Jesse Pana and Linda K. (Maxey) Ahmed. Nicole earned her High School Equivalence Degree from Elwood Community High School, and was currently attending Indiana Wesleyan University studying criminal justice. She attended the Cornerstone Assembly of God in Elwood. Nicole married Matthew W. Garner on December 17, 2015. She enjoyed playing games on her phone and loved singing. She especially loved spending time with her dogs, "Snoopy", "Chubbs", "Zoey", "Butterball", "Chewy", "Kingsley", and "Peanut", which she treated like her children. More than anything, Nicole loved her family and was a very loving wife to Matt.
Nicole's family includes husband, Matthew W. Garner of Elwood; uncle, William "Bill" (wife Lisa) Maxey of Elwood; adopted mom and dad, Donna and Loren "Herb" Brummet of Elwood; 2 brothers, K.D. Ahmed of Las Vegas, NV., and James Ahmed of Nashville, TN.; 2 step-sisters, Serena Martino of Indiana, and Brenda Cole of Indiana; cousins, Samantha Maxey, Shelby Bohanon, Jessie Maxey, Alexis Maxey, and April Gramont Rancatore; mother-in-law, Norma Garner of Elwood; 2 aunts, Debbie (husband Frank) Faron, and Sandy Fuller; and many more extended family members. Nicole was preceded in death by her mother, Linda K. (Maxey) Ahmed; step-father, Robert Martino; grandmother, Judy Maxey; and grandfather, Elmer Faulkner.
A memorial service celebrating Nicole's life will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood, officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 pm on Tuesday prior to the memorial service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
